Innovative and Surprising New Treatment for Bruxism

March 22, 2010 By alex 1 Comment

Dentists have long battled with the question of how to help patients cease teeth grinding. Now, a new invention uses electricity to do just that: a product called Grindcare has been created in Europe in the past year to help people suffering from Bruxism or teeth grinding.

The device is a new pain free and easy method for dealing with bruxism, and patients that use the device are deriving considerable success in controlling teeth grinding activities while they sleep.

Grindcare has earned the Life Sciences of the Year Award since its creation; this device has a special electrode that is positioned on the individual’s temple in order to evaluate and measure temporalis movement as an individual is sleeping.

Once the electrode is attached, an individual will have to clench their jaw, swallow, and grimace so that the machine can then properly record these movements.

Once the movements are recorded, Grindcare, a product crafted by Medotech, can identify when a patient is making such motions during sleep.

While the patient is sleeping, if the Grindcare device detects movements associated with Bruxism, the machine will send a 1-7mA pulse into the electrode which is attached to the individual.

The electricity will help relax the muscle via a pain-free method and will thereby hinder the act of teeth grinding.

This device has already been tested on as many as fourteen volunteers at the Aalborg University and the University of Aarhus during a study conducted to see how well the device works and to evaluate the device’s safety.

The study lasted for a five week period. During that time, as the volunteers slept, the device was turned off and on without the individuals knowing the times that the machine operation was initiated or stopped.

When the Grindcare device was on, it cut bruxism activity by as much as fifty percent.

    BUYER BEWARE …

I have purchased a Grindcare in early 2012.

The device has not helped me to reduce my clenching, in fact the numbers showed absolutely no down trend, even with the higher stimulation degrees.

Potential Grindcare customers should know that THEY WILL NOT HONOR THEIR MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE.

I have called to get a refund within the guarantee period and they have simply been ignoring my request in spite of my repeated calls and emails.
I am stuck with a 1150$ device that is useless to me.

Is this the kind of company you want to trust your money and well-being with ?
