Laser dentistry eliminates many of the common complaints of traditional dentistry.

A laser device replaces the rotary tools, like brushes or drills, and can be used for everything from surgery to teeth cleaning and whitening.

The only addition to the laser teeth cleaning procedure is the requirement of protective glasses to shield the eyes from the laser beam. A laser doesn’t make any noise and doesn’t require physical contact with your teeth. Water isn’t usually needed but air suction is used to keep the treated area cool.

Regular cleaning failed to bring my teeth back to the gleaming white they once were, so it was recommended by my dentist to try out this new laser cleaning treatment if it bothered me that much.

Well, I’d been through a lot or tooth trauma to get clean and healthy choppers so I thought I may as well polish the job off. Laser teeth cleaning was not cheap, and the whole process was uncomfortable though not painful.

It took about an hour in total and I tell you, I couldn’t stop smiling at anyone and everyone that crossed my path the moment I left the dental surgery. Bright, white, and full or light, that’s me and my mouth nowadays and I’ve never been happier.

Oh, and the bad breath has been cured in the process, so that’s worked wonders for my love life.

It’s not rare to find tartar or calculus deep under the gumline during a routine teeth cleaning procedure. Often it’s too deep for the dental hygienist to reach it without the patient being anesthetized.

When this is the problem, dentists perform a deep scaling with anesthesia using the dental laser. The patient is anesthetized which allows the dentist to reach deep into the pockets of tartar and quickly and painlessly remove calculus and tartar.

The laser breaks up calculus and tartar and it is flushed out allowing the gums to heal more effectively.

  1. This information on laser teeth cleanings is not completely accurate. research and studies show that the lasers used for cleanings; do sterilize the gum tissue eliminating harmful bacteria, microbes, and endotoxins… but it does not remove the “calculus or tartar” found below or above the gumline. this is bad because while the tissue is healthy now it will heal and tighten around the tartar , which creates a haven for bacteria that will eventually come back and cause more problem in the end such as an abscess or a gum infection and ultimately lead to bone loss!!! the foundation of your teeth. you need bone to hold them in !
