Dental Implant Surgery Procedure

To place a dental implant, the dentist uses local anesthesia to numb the surgical area. In most cases, the procedure is well tolerated by the patient, and can be done while the patient is awake, or with light sedation.
After Dental Implant Surgery
Whether you have dental implant surgery in multiple stages or one stage, you may have some of the typical problems after dental implant surgery, such as gums and face swelling, implant site pain and bleeding.
If those problems get worse in the days after surgery, contact your dental implant surgeon (prosthodontist).
After your dental implant surgery you will be given antibiotics as well as antibiotic oral rinse, you need to ask your dentist for all specific instructions on how to use both the anesthetic and the oral rinse.
After dental implant surgery:
- Use gauze pad for stop bleeding
- Rinse your mouth with warm salt water solution (1 teaspot of sal/1 cup of water)
- Use moist tea bag for relieve pain
- Use painkiller if you have some discomfort after the surgery
- Apply an ice pack for about twenty minutes for the first 6 hours after dental implant surgery and days after
- Relax as much as possible and avoid all intense activities
- Drink at least eight glasses of water or juice every day and eat soft food like soups
- Consult your doctor, dentist or prosthodontist for all points above
