Dental Implant Surgery Procedure

Because dental implants require one or more surgical procedures, you must have a thorough evaluation in preparation for the process.

Traditional dental implant surgery generally requires from five months to two years to complete. To place a dental implant, the dentist uses local anesthesia to numb the surgical area. In most cases, the procedure is well tolerated by the patient, and can be done while the patient is awake, or with light sedation.

After Dental Implant Surgery

Whether you have dental implant surgery in multiple stages or one stage, you may have some of the typical problems after dental implant surgery, such as gums and face swelling, implant site pain and bleeding.

• Apply an ice pack for about twenty minutes for the first 6 hours after dental implant surgery and days after
• Relax as much as possible and avoid all intense activities
• Drink at least eight glasses of water or juice every day and eat soft food like soups
