Did you know that your lower back pain could be caused by your dental condition? That’s true for your head, neck and jaw as well. Midlife dentistry works to correct these issues while giving back your beautiful smile.

When you elect to follow through with midlife dentistry procedures, you are giving yourself a beautiful gift that will last for years to come. It’s not just a quick fix approach to filling cavities and placing porcelain veneers. It’s a comprehensive evaluation that restores the health of your teeth and gums, while also eliminating many health concerns caused by an imbalance in the head, neck and jaw.

What can these imbalances lead to? If you wake up morning after morning with headaches, your pain could be caused by a deteriorating dental condition. Pain behind your eyes could be caused by a worsening dental structure. Annoying sounds in your ears could be caused by the fact that you have dental issues and you are not aware of them.

Doctors typically recommend surgery or drugs to treat such pain. Dental-related causes are often overlooked, but unfortunately you won’t know that unless you find a dentist who practices tmj dentistry. These and other issues are faced by people at midlife, which is why they require more than just cosmetic procedures.

Ideally, midlife dentistry is performed under one roof so that you don’t have to run all over town to get different procedures that will be needed to restore your mouth. Midlife dentistry places an importance on preserving your chewing function, which can often be thrown off by cosmetic dental treatment. A customized treatment program is created that includes only procedures you need and treatment that will ensure your work lasts and is comfortable. Then, they are ideally performed in the correct sequence and often with many procedures done in one visit. This way, you can get your complete makeover done in fewer visits.

The fact that the main goal is to restore your natural chewing function means that veneers, crowns and dental implants are only used in conjunction with the restoration of your natural teeth. Ensuring that you have healthy gums and saving your natural teeth are primary concerns because it prevents further health issues later down the road.

The first and most important step in midlife dentistry is to restore balance in the head, neck and jaw. From that point, the dental work can be performed with utmost precision to ensure that balance is maintained. You will notice your headaches and back pain go away. As more work is being completed, more and more symptoms will drop from your daily list of annoyances.

It’s like having a car and making sure you maintain it properly rather than only giving it attention only when it breaks down. Your mouth is the same way. When you practice dental preventive maintenance, you are ensuring that you will have fewer health issues later in life.

So, midlife dentistry is not just about giving back your smile. It’s also about addressing all health issues that stem from your dental condition.
