The standard price for professional teeth whitening is around $350

Even today’s drug-store option of whitening strips cost around $40, and since stained teeth are a recurring problem the cost of these strips will add up. Plus, chances are that you have several whitening tools already in your home that you’re just unaware of.

So why spend extra cash and time visiting a dentist when you can whiten your teeth at home, the natural way?

Four Teeth Whitening Home Remedies:

1. Strawberries: These fruits contain an enzyme that will whiten your teeth. You can either take the fruit and directly rub on (gently) or you can mash up the strawberry and apply with a toothbrush like a toothpaste.

Remember to brush your teeth with actual toothpaste after application to remove the sugar and any food particles left behind from this treatment.

2. Baking Soda: Create a mixture of baking soda and salt (about 1 tsp of baking soda and just a sprinkling of salt) and apply to your teeth with a toothbrush. This one doesn’t taste that great, so you might want to mix in a dab of your regular minty toothpaste and rinse afterward to help counteract the saltiness.

Another bonus of this baking soda remedy is that it kills plaque-causing bacteria and reduces harmful acids in your mouth.

3. Orange Peel: Take the white side of an orange peel and rub against your teeth, then brush your teeth after.

Orange peels contain an acid that naturally whitens teeth.

4. Crunchy Fruits and Veggies: Celery, apples, carrots, and broccoli all are abrasive and so they naturally scrub stains off the teeth.

Don’t forget dental health basics

If you’re concerned about keeping your teeth bright and healthy, remember the importance of a diligent oral hygiene routine. Try and brush after every meal, floss, use mouthwash, and drink lots of water.

Also consider that all these teeth whitening remedies should be used in moderation, because as with any excessive treatment, they have the potential to harm your teeth with overuse.
