Drugs and Periodontium – a Review
Periodontal tissue is susceptible to a range of systemic medications. The effect of systemic drugs such as antihypertensives, antiepileptics, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs on the periodontium can cause an adverse effect on the periodontal tissues or afford some degree of protection against periodontal breakdown or can lead to an increased risk of periodontal breakdown.

Oral dryness, or xerostomia as it is also known, is the health condition in which due to malfunctioning, the salivary glands do not produce enough saliva. However, people struggle quite rarely with such a condition in its toughest form, and the symptoms generally last for shorter periods of time.

Bad breath, medically termed as Halitosis is a condition that produces unpleasant feeling due to foul smell produced from the mouth. It occurs when people don’t take proper care of their oral cavity, and maintain poor oral hygiene. Its also affected and influenced by the foods that you eat, and your diet.
But bad breath isn’t always the result of choosing the wrong mouthwash or toothpaste, a University of Iowa dentist says. The cause of bad breath might be the food you ate for lunch, out-of-control diabetes, or perhaps postnasal drip.
If you have a good oral hygiene and have a bad breath it can be halitosis. Halitosis is the medical name given to those who suffer from chronic bad breath.
