Tooth Abscess or Root Abscess - Infected Tooth

A root abscess typically originates from dead pulp tissue, usually caused by untreated tooth decay, cracked teeth or extensive periodontal disease. A failed root canal treatment, may also create a similar abscess.

Symptoms and Treatment of Tooth Abscess

Tooth abscess infection mainly occurs due to deep caries where the infection spreads from the infected carious lesion to the roots. Other causes of tooth abscess are trauma to the tooth, where excess pressure is applied on the tooth or sometimes due to gum disease.
