Designed to Smile Free Oral Health Program in Wales
Designed to Smile is an oral health program which takes place in disadvantaged communities all throughout Wales. These programs help reducing all the health inequalities in the system. Children living in remoter areas of the country do not have the same access or the same opportunities to proper oral health care, as children from the urban areas.

According to a recent study on Northern Virginia’s oral health problematic, low income families do not have the access to proper dental care that they would deserve. In the report it is made a clear call to action addressed to the community, to make everything possible and help the low income families gain better access to oral health care services.
The Dental Pipeline program has been funded in 2001 by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The oral health program was intended to serve 23 cities across the US, including San Francisco. In the city of San Francisco, Dental Pipeline is being operated by the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry at the University of the Pacific.
United Concordia Dental, one of the nation’s largest dental insurers, helped provide nearly $1.7 million in free dental care to more than 8,000 children and adults with minimal or no insurance during 2010.
The Oral Health America (OHA) Gala always raises funds that support oral health care programs across the country, but this year’s Gala will offer attendees a unique opportunity to fund programs in their own communities. Attendees will bid on 16 dental-themed artworks, created by children in China and donated by DNTLworks Equipment Corporation.
Many kids do not receive the proper dental care. A number of children in US have never been to the dentist. However, dental professionals are making an effort to change situation by providing free dental care to kids as part of the annual Give Kids a Smile Day sponsored by the American Dental Association (ADA).
