Local dentists and free dental clinics gave unprivileged elementary school students something to smile about, as they partnered for the second annual Give Kids A Smile Program. Dentists participated in a nationwide program called Dentistry from the Heart, which provides free dental treatment and consultation to those adults who do not have access to dental care or cannot afford it.
A large group of people waits for the opportunity to receive free dental work from the national dental programs. Children receive free dental work within Give Kids a Smile, a program that provides free services to children without dental insurance. Adults over 18 were given the option of receiving a free cleaning, extraction or filling at the annual Dentistry From the Heart program.
On Saturday some dentists will use the office to offer a day of free cleanings, fillings and extractions, some will provide free dental care for children from low-income families on Friday. For hours, hundreds of Americans waited in line for free dental services.
In celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month, dentists will be providing dental care to children who are uninsured and do not regularly see a dentist. More than two dozen dentists throughout the county opened their office doors Friday to low-income children and adults to provide free services and education.
Local dentists teamed up to give every child a smile that they can be proud of. They are providing free cleanings, fillings and other basic dental services to thousands of children. Free dental services to uninsured kids were provided by these dentists under the Give Kids A Smile program. The program Missions of Mercy will host a free dental services clinic for adults.

Hundreds of children spent time on Friday in the chair saying “ahh” as local dentists, hygienists and students tried to take a bite out of a growing problem of not enough tooth and gum care for many young people. Friday was the 8th annual Give Kids a Smile Day from the American Dental Association. Free dental care was provided for more than 320,000 uninsured children between the ages of 3 and 12 nation wide.
As part of the National Children’s Dental Health Month events, kids will receive free dental health screenings and fluoride treatments. This is a one-day event where dentists and dental staff volunteer their time to provide free dental treatment to children.

An estimated 350 Wisconsin dentists will volunteer their time and skills, along with 934 dental team members, dental, hygiene and assisting students, faculty and community advocates, to donate more than $719,000 in oral health care and education to 6,253 of the state’s low-income children this Friday, Feb. 5 and during upcoming weeks as part of the eighth annual Give Kids A Smile® children’s dental access program.

The New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA) will host the national Give Kids a Smile! (GKAS) Children’s Dental Access Day for the 8th year on Friday, February 5, 2010, at more than 80 participating locations around the state.
