    Positive Negative

Stress crack as you called it, can interfere with the staying of the filling in its position. And if the crack on the tooth is extending deep into the tooth and contacts the pulp, its better not to just get a filling done but an RCT is advised to save the tooth from any infections, and removing the pulp if it has got inflamed.

If you don't experience any pain due to the crack, then its better to just go for a normal filling, and the dentist can advise you on whether to go for any further treatment, depending on the extension and location of the crack formed. Usually the fillings that are damaged or leaking, can be repaired with removal of the remaining filling material and replacement with a new one.
