The teeth look strong outside but inside it is a soft nerves chamber. It consists of a nerve tissue and blood vessels. A deep decay or injury can irritate the nerves causing the nerves to deteriorate. If it completely dies, ganger develops and the nerve chamber will be infected. Root canal maybe recommended by the dentist in cases that are more complex than the usual swelling and pain on the gums.
An abscessed tooth is a tooth that has a pocket of pus in the tissues around or beneath it. A bacterial infection or gum disease (gingivitis or periodontitis) may cause the bone surrounding the tooth to dissolve and an abscess to form. Not surprisingly, abscessed teeth are usually very painful. You may feel a shooting or throbbing pain every time you bite or chew.
