Give Kids a Smile is the part of February’s National Children’s Dental Health Month. Many kids are not being taught the proper way to care for their teeth. A number of teens in US have never been to the dentist. Dentists are making efforts to change that by providing free dental services.

A recent survey of low-income parents has found that financial stress caused by the economic recession is forcing many families to choose between basic necessities such as food, transportation and housing, and routine dental care for their children – exacerbating an epidemic of poor dental health among children from underserved communities.
Health experts say that seniors, squeezed by limited budgets and declining dental coverage, often neglect their teeth. Many do everything else for the rest of their bodies, but the teeth are the last thing. Roanoke Mission of Mercy has contacted WSLS to say the free dental clinic has been rescheduled for March of 2010. The exact days are Friday and Saturday, March 26 and 27, 2010 at the Roanoke Civic Center.
