It is not at all uncommon for people to have fears and anxieties over going to the dentist. The primary cause of the fear that people associate with dental visits is related to the idea of having to experience pain during certain dental procedures. Painless dentistry helps eliminate the possibility of experiencing pain when getting extractions, fillings, root canals and other complex dental procedures.
Question
If I get dentures, will that cause or accelerate bone loss in the jaw? will full dentures cause or accelerate jaw bone loss.
Answer
Complete/full dentures are known to cause bone loss, but they don't accelerate it. Reduction of the jaw height is common when you wear dentures, as the forces due to the teeth on the jaws induce its loss.
If you are concerned about bone loss, the only next possible option would be implants, which costs very high but are integrated with the jaw bone and each tooth is placed individually.

Previous research demonstrates that the placement of a dental implant disrupts the host tissue in the area of the implant, so practitioners often focus their treatment planning to carefully maintain the patient’s bone and gum tissue surrounding the implant.
Question
My son (9 years old) has been complaining of pain on his jaw bone for a few weeks now. It mostly hurts if you touch it. It feels like a ball. What could this be?
Answer
Not to scare you, but it could be a cyst or a tumor. And, I'm not one of those people that automatically jump to conclusions. I had a 'stem' growing out my jaw, and it was really painful, and it turned out to be a tumor. If he gets listless, or it hurts too bad, I'd suggest taking him to the dentist.
Question
Should I be concerned about bone in upper jaw because of fosamax use. Will withdrawing from it for 3 months before oral surgery help to improve the jaw bone condition? How would the withdrawal of the product help to promote better healing of the bone. Is not the damage to the bone already done. Should […]
