According to statistics, approximately 80% of the American struggle with some sort of dental phobia, or dental fear as it is also called. Out of these, 10% to 15% struggle with the most extreme form of phobia, where the patient cannot even accept the sight of a dentist with his mask and gloves on.
In dental treatment, an IV sedation dentist gives you sedative for that extra care you need, which might be because of anxiety, medical condition, phobia, for elderly person or a child.
It appears that older people experience less extreme dental anxiety that young adults do. A recent survey determined that 15% of people in the 16 to 34 age brackets experienced extreme dental anxiety when they visited their dentist.
The inability to make a dental appointment, lack of dental insurance, and financial problems are some of the reasons why people don’t get the proper dental care. Other reasons include that the people may not understand how important it is to follow the instructions of their dentist, and a lack of understanding of the option they have for treatment.
