Many experts believe that as many as one in three adults in the United Kingdom fail to brush their teeth for the full two minutes each day as recommended.

A dental health foundation recognized in the UK determined that as many as one third of adults cut the amount of time they brush down in order to take care of matters they felt were more urgent.

The excuses that were given by the 1,000 adults who were polled included caring for children, answering their cell phones, and rushing in order to leave the house on time.

Experts have continually stressed that good brushing habits are essential in order to prevent cavities.

The Chief Executive of the foundation says that your dentist can remove any tartar and plaque on your teeth, however, everyday care is critical and is up to each individual. The best weapon a person has against tooth decay and gum disease is their toothbrush.

He has also said that in numerous studies during the past few years it has been determined that the average time we brush our teeth for is only about 45 seconds, which is less than half of the time that is necessary to do a good job.

However, the study shows that people think they are doing considerably better than they really are.

The biggest reason for tooth lose in adults is gum disease, and poor oral health is being linked to more and more serious illnesses such as diabetes and stroke, however, it is a condition that is totally preventable condition, and a good oral health routine at home is the way to prevent it.

Most experts recommend that people should brush their teeth for at least two full minutes twice each day, with a good fluoride toothpaste in order to keep their mouth healthy and clean.

Today, according to recent studies, as many as one in three adults in the United Kingdom do not brush their teeth for the recommended full two minutes each day.

Tooth decay and gum disease are totally preventable and the toothbrush is the way to prevent these problems.
