Heavy Drinking Suggested As Cause of Oral Cancer

Oral cancer occupies the sixth place in the list of common cancer affecting men around the world today. Most of the time it was detected late and on its advance stage. Factors that said to be the underlying cause of oral cancer are smoking, human papilloma virus, gender and age and adding to the list is heavy drinking.

Generally, oral cancer is cancer that occurs in the tip of the tongue, floor of mouth, tonsils and soft palate. It usually started with unhealed swelling and discoloration in a matter of three weeks or more. If this condition occurs, consult your dentist right away. The advantage of acquiring speedy and complete recovery is yours if your condition was detected early.

Most of the oral cancer cases are due to smoking. It is said that the more stick of cigarettes you use and the longer you take, it is the same proportion to risk of getting oral cancer. Although those heavy drinkers are tend to have oral cancer but the combination of this two will most likely has greater risk of oral cancer.

Women are not exempted in this disease however men are two times fold high risk to develop the disease than women.
In case oral cancer is detected, different options in treating the disease maybe suggested by your dentist such as eliminating the affected cells through surgery, radiation or chemotherapy. No matter what kind of procedure you have to undergo, the important is your cooperation and willingness to be healed.

Although cancer is some kind of dreaded disease however always keep in mind that early detection is very important. Have a regular check up with your doctor or if you have notice some signs and symptoms. Act as soon as possible before it’s too late.
