1. Dental floss can be used to cut food into pieces is you don’t have a knife handy. Wrap the floss around your fingers like you would if you were flossing, and use the string to cut through food like hardboiled eggs or cake. This is sometimes neater than using a knife, especially with foods that have a delicate texture like soft cheeses and jelly.

2. If you break your fishing line or run out, use dental floss as a replacement.

3. Use dental floss to hang items. Dental floss is made of a strong and durable material, such that you can use it to hang picture frames or wind chimes.

4. Patch holes with dental floss by using it to sew with.

5. Unwaxed dental floss can be used to tie up rolled pieces of meat like roasts, chicken, or bacon for cooking.

6. Dental floss makes for a useful clothesline if you are out camping or on vacation.

7. Separate photos that are stuck together in an album by slipping a strand of floss between them, without damaging the photos.

8. Support climbing plants by securing them with dental floss.

9. Dental floss has medical uses as well. It has been used in emergencies to tie up severed arteries or to tie up the umbilical cord in an emergency delivery.

10. Fix a broken umbrella by using dental floss to secure the loose fabric to the umbrella ribs by sewing them.
