Usually it will only make a difference for a short time, although it may be convenient after dining on an especially pungent food that contains garlic or onions.

Usually bad breath sprays are a mixture of mint and alcohol, and act as a temporary remedy. However, numerous bad breath sprays have sugar in them which will feed the bacteria that cause the odor in the mouth. The alcohol will dry the mouth out and habitual use of bad breath sprays may actually make the problem worse. Try to select bad breath sprays that are sugar free.

There are some sprays for bad breath that try to use natural ingredients for the treatment of bad breath, including thyme, lemon, cloves, eucalyptus, cinnamon, and fennel to name a few.

Although these may be somewhat more effective at treatment in the long term than bad breath sprays that are made from sugar and alcohol, they are no replacement for good oral hygiene.

A person should floss their teeth once a day and brush at least twice a day, and after every meal if possible.

Since bad breath is frequently the result of too much bacteria in the mouth, some people find that a tongue scraper to be one way to remove the germs that cause bad breath.

Another effective way of getting rid of bad breath is mouthwash. If the bad breath continues to persist, even after bad breath spray, mouthwash, flossing, and brushing visit a general practice doctor or a dentist since the bad breath might be caused by some medications or an underlying medical condition.

One advantage of bad breath sprays is that if they don’t have alcohol in them, they will help to wet the mouth. One of the leading causes of bad breath is dry mouth. Chewing a mint or some sugarless gum or drinking a glass of water may have a similar effect. Chewing on some parsley may also help to naturally freshen a person’s breath.
