Volunteer Dentists Provided Free Dental Services

Last Saturday, Mercer County hosted a very successful free dental services project, where well over 300 patients received free dental care treatments.

There are several patients who will not go to the dentist because they suffer from severe dental phobia, but there is an even higher number of patients who cannot have access to proper dental care because they cannot afford it.

Those who do not have dental insurance are the most vulnerable patients – even if they struggle with complex dental issues, there is no way they can get dental treatment. Last Saturday, Mercer County hosted a very successful free dental project, where well over 300 patients received free dental care treatments.

Plenty of these patients were self employed people, who said that their situation is quite complex when it comes to dental care or dental insurance coverage.

This is why they took advantage of this free dental services event, and went on to get the treatments they needed.

The dentists offered free dental examinations to patients, and then they decided if X-rays are needed for further investigations.

There were plenty of patients who needed only basic professional free dental cleaning or one or two dental fillings.

However, there were quite many patients who needed to undergo dental extractions, because their teeth could not be saved anymore.

In order to avoid infections and complications, dentists generally decided to extract the badly damaged teeth.

When it comes to free dental care, it is widely known that Mercer County is a quite underserved area.

Many patients interviewed said that this free dental services event was truly a savior for their community, where people do not have easy access to proper dental care for yeas now.

The free dental screenings were held at the city hall, while other procedures were carried out at the Jahraus Dental clinic in the area.
