Successful Free Dental Work for Seniors

In December, the Senior Dental Day took place and about 40 seniors were offered free dental work.

A team of volunteer dentists, dental hygienists and lab technicians donated their time and skills in the benefit of the community.

The free dental work treatments have been offered at the Grand Rapids Community College Dental Clinic, and the entire event has been coordinated by the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan.

According to statistics, only about 20% of the dentists accept Medicaid, so seniors find it quite difficult to receive proper affordable dental treatments.

Among the free dental work treatments offered there were professional dental cleanings, a full mouth examination and dental X-rays.

Patients who needed further dental treatments have been referred to another dentist for dental care on discounted prices.
