Smiles on Wheels Free Dental Event in Hondo, Texas

The City of Hondo, Texas has been “invaded” by good willing angels recently.

The “Smiles on Wheels” team has been joined by reputed cosmetic dentist Eddie Camacho from San Antonio, and together they all painted a smile on the faces of people who cannot afford dental services.

The event has been sponsored by the “Smiles Foundation” of the Texas Dental Association.

The aim of these humanitarian events is to provide one and two day free clinics around rural communities located all throughout Texas area.

Patients were offered the following dental services: fillings, dental cleanings, extractions and even cosmetic dentistry services that could be resolved on the spot.

The dental teams have been helped out by a lot of volunteers from the area, who wanted to make a difference and lend a hand in helping out the poor.

According to Dr. Kurt Loveless, who is the Chair of the Smiles Foundation, the volunteering team of dentists was able to perform dental treatments on a number of around 150 patients, with the real costs of the operation rising up to ~ $104,000.

Dr. Camacho has made one particular patient very happy by offering a treatment of cosmetic bonding that day.

The non profit organization “Smiles Foundation” has a clear mission statement: educate the public and profession about oral health and improve access to dental care for the citizens of Texas.

The Smiles on Wheels charitable mission brings together dental professionals who are willing to volunteer and offer free dental care for people who truly need it in the Texas area.
