Citizens of the state of Nebraska enjoy highly the fact that they have a pretty good lifestyle available in their region. People all around are walking with huge white smiles because they can afford proper dental health services.

However, some of the citizens are less fortunate, and they have to fight with tooth decay, crooked teeth that need repair, or dental pain that is constantly bothering them.

These people cannot afford proper dental healthcare, but the good news is that relief is on its way shortly.

The Nebraska Mission of Mercy is an free dental services event that will be held for two days (June 3 and 4) at the Fonner Park on Grand Island.

The humanitarian free dental mission is planned by dental professionals from the Tri-Cities, and at this the free dental care marathon there will roll in 225 professional dental helhtcare volunteers from all the important regions such as Hastings, Grand Island or Kearney.

The event will start in the very early morning hours (before 5am), and volunteers will keep serving the citizens until 6pm each day.

People will receive free dental services on a first come first served basis, and it is expected that there will be served approximately 2,500 people during the marathon.

The following free dental services will be performed:

  • Professional dental cleaning
  • Root canal therapy
  • Extractions
  • Fillings
  • Denture partials

However, in order for the event to take place smoothly, there would be needed more than 1,000 dentists-volunteers for tasks such as organizing, patient registration, parking, sanitation, child care or general assistance and information, the Grand Island Independent reports.

The volunteers must comply with two basic regulations:

  • They should be older than 16 years of age
  • Depending on what shift they will take on, they will have to get up very early in the morning.

This dental marathon is actually the second of its kind in Nebraska- the first one was held in 2006 and then it has attracted a huge number of 1,800 participants. Those who cannot afford proper dental care are expected at the Nebraska Mission of Mercy event in June this year.
