There will be present more than 1,000 volunteer dental professionals including hygienists, dental students and assistants at the 2-day event.
The event is organized by the Wisconsin Dental Association and the WDA Foundation Mission of Mercy, and volunteers will arrive from 162 Wisconsin communities.
This will actually be the 3rd Annual WDA and WDA Foundation Mission of Mercy free dental care event. It is estimated that there will be treated approximately 1,000 patients each day, and the event starts at 6am and patients will be offered these services on a first come first served basis up until 5pm every day.
It is important to note that on the first day, on June 24th, free dental care will be offered to 30 Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes.
The location of the clinic is at the Greenbeck Field House, on 6400 Alderson St. in Weston (just about 5 miles from Wassau).
There are several story and interviewing opportunities available, among which it is important to mention:
- Media staff has the opportunity to walk along with spokespersons of Mission of Mercy, and interview the patients who are waiting in line. This is an action that can be performed even before the doors of the clinic open in the early morning.
- Watching dentists and volunteers at work, and interviewing them as well about this huge charitable event and its importance in breaking the barriers of healthcare in the area of Wisconsin
