This is why, the initiative of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Perryville to offer free dental work to kids, was more than welcome.

Well over 60 children have received free dental work, which has been offered by a huge team of dentists, dental students and dental hygienists.

This has been the 8th annual Sealant Saturday, and the main sponsors of the free dental work event were the Maryland Dental Hygienists’ Association, the American Association of Women Dentists and the Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association.

The school organizes every year such a Sealant Saturday, where the staff offers free dental work in the form of dental examinations to those who cannot afford dental care.

Kids without dental insurance are the ones mostly eligible to receive free dental examinations and dental sealants on this event.

One single dental sealant costs about $50, and many parents cannot afford to pay for four dental sealants, as required.

Therefore, families can save up to $200 thanks to such a free dental work event where the children receive examinations and the dental sealants they need, to protect them from cavities.
