The waiting list at the Fox Cities Community Health Center affordable dental clinic based in Grand Chute is in a continuous growth. The dental office has opened on February the 1st, and ever since its waiting list contains 500 names already.
The clinic staff is quite comprehensive, being made up of 5 dentists who work on a full time basis, 10 dental assistants, 1 dentist working on a part time schedule and as many as 5 dental hygienists. According to FCCHC executive director Kristene Stacker, the affordable dental clinic is full every single day.
The fact that more and more patients need the affordable services of the dental clinic automatically means that more financial backup is also needed.
For this reason, a fundraiser will be held on Saturday through the Homegrown Music Fest, and the location of the fundraiser will be at Goodwill of North Central Wisconsin’s west parking lot in Menasha (from 11a.m to 10p.m).
At the event there will be present local musicians who will entertain everybody present, and the food will be provided by the Meat Block from Greenville and by the local restaurant Kangaroostaurant.
Stacker also further emphasizes that the purpose of the event, besides raising the necessary money in order to able to support the people who are uninsured, is also to raise the general awareness in the community and show what an important asset the FCCHC is.
The FCCHC has been founded as a free dental clinic as early as 1997, and through all these years it has grown into a health facility that provides professional care for patients coming from all neighboring communities such as Winnebago, Outagamie or Calumet.
The facility offers a wide range of medical services including professional dental care, women’s heath services, homeless services and mental health services.
Dental care has been first offered in 2009 at Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin and that year, there have been served as many as 4,400 patients. One year later, the dental clinic was receiving approximately 750 visits per month in the first half of the year, while in the second half the clinic already received 950 visits.
This is also the reason why it has been decided that the clinic needs a bigger facility and more professional hands available, so they have moved to a new facility located at 5337 Grand Market Drive, Grand Chute.
