You can visit a dental hygienist at the local dental school and get there such a dental cleaning. The dental hygienists at local schools receive their training there, so they will also need volunteer patients on whom they can experiment.

If you don’t want to go to a trainee dental hygienist for an extraction, that is understandable, but receiving an ultra comfortable cleaning with that special brush will do you no harm.

Given the fact dental hygienists always need such volunteer patients, they will most likely offer plenty of dental services for free. Some of these free services may include dental X-rays, dental cleanings, fillings, the application of fluoride and dental sealants to prevent dental decay.

Firstly, you should do a research and check out some of the dental schools available in your area. You can do a quick search online using keyphrases such as “dental schools new York” or dental hygienist schools New York”. Alternatively, you can also ask your regular dentist to redirect you towards such a school in your local area.

Then, you should make sure to prepare nicely for your first visit to the dental school. There you might be asked a plethora of questions, and you should answer all these. Generally hygienists will want to know if there is any medication you are currently taking, or if there is any underlying health condition you are struggling with.

What you might find quite interesting is that the dental hygienist performing only a simple cleaning will ask you too many health related questions. Keep in mind that they are still in training, and a supervisor watches closely their every move, so you should be patient too.

Professional dental cleanings are extremely important, in order to maintain good oral health. This type of cleaning cannot be compared to the regular dental brushing done at home.

Hygienists use a special turbo dental brush instrument, and a special toothpaste or gel. Also, through dental cleaning all the harmful plaque is being removed from the surface of the tooth.

This plaque is most of the times responsible for gum disease, infections and inflammations of the gums. Therefore, making sure to get at least 2 such dental cleanings per year is extremely important!
