Humanitarian free dental care events always have a huge positive impact on the society.

This is when dental professionals and volunteers from all fields join their forces, in order to dedicate their skills and experience for a noble cause.

This is exactly what happened at the Kelowna Gospel Mission’s Community Free Dental Clinic as well.

According to trustworthy sources, the centre has offered free dental work worth well over $1 million, for people who were in great need of these procedures.

It is a well known fact that there are millions of people who live without proper insurance and just as many who simply cannot afford to pay for even the basic dental care.

These people many times continue to live without checking a dentist for years, with the result that their health condition worsens over time.

Then, they will unfortunately have to put up with all the pain and discomfort of the dental complications, because now their condition worsened a lot and the expenses required are very high.

Shirley Goebel, who is the director of Dental Services, says that the numbers they have got are simply amazing.

Yet, it is very pleasant to know that they have managed to take care of the greatest majority of dental cases in the community of Kelowna.

Thanks to their partnership with the UBC (the University of British Columbia- Faculty of Dentistry) the free dental clinic has been able to offer a full range of basic dental services all throughout the day.

Since 2009, the dental clinic runs full time, especially since it entered into partnership with the UBC General Practice Residency Program.

According to estimations, the free dental clinic has been visited by well over 4,500 patients who needed dental care.
