Need of More Time from Volunteers for Free Dental Clinic
Charlottesville Free Clinic needs more dedication from the part of the volunteers in order for the clinic to operate properly. The free dental clinic operates for a few years, with 41 volunteer dentists and there is also a paid dentist available. However, on the waiting lists there are still 250 patients in need of care.
The good news is that recently, an unnamed donor offers a challenge for the clinic: if there are enough dentists and doctors who dedicate more time for volunteering, he will match up that extra offered time with an amount up to $50,000. With more time being offered by the volunteers, it’s a win-win situation: the clinic can serve more people, and the volunteers will benefit monetarily as well.

Free Oral Cancer Screenings in Topsham, ME
On May 10th, at the Androscoggin Dental Care office located at 7 Main Street there will be free oral cancer screenings offered for patients. Time: from 7am to 4:30 pm.
In order to schedule an appointment, you are invited to call at 729-3911. Although April is designated as the month of oral cancer awareness, Androscoggin had to reschedule the screenings for May, due to some schedule conflicts.
For the screening, a special non-invasive tool called the VELscope will be used by Dr. Frederick Wigand. It is important to keep in mind that if found early enough, cancer survival rate is 80% to even 90%.
