Children do not deserve to suffer from dental pain simply because their parents cannot provide for them with a decent dental insurance.

This is why, the Shelby County Health Department’s School Based Preventative Dental Program will offer free sealant placements and free dental screenings throughout his summer.

These free dental services will be offered to both children and teenagers (5-15 year old), and through this event the staff hopes that they will be able to raise the awareness regarding the importance of proper dental care and oral health.

The dental sealants are basically very thin plastic films which are attached right onto the chewing surface of the tooth. These films will act as a barrier against tooth decay formation, and the sealants protect well the chewing surfaces. Dental sealants are suitable for child dental decay only.

Children will also have the chance to participate in educational dental presentations and there will be also little gifts offered to those who participate.

It is important to keep in mind that parental consent is required, and you will be offered these consent forms right at the screening location.
This particular community outreach program will take place:

-Monday July 2 & Friday July 27 at the Hickory Ridge Mall Suite 492, 6075 Winchester

The free dentistry day starts at 10:00am and will last up until 3:pm.

Those who would like to find out even more about the community outreach activities of this kind, should call the School Based Dental Prevention Program at the following number: 901-545-8801.
