Free Dental Care Day
Burlington, Vt. (April 9, 2011) – Vermont dentists, hygienists, assistants and support staff will gather at the Vermont Technical College (VTC) campus in Williston on April 9 for the second annual Free Dental Care Day. They will provide free dental assistance to low-income Vermonters.
The event is a joint initiative between the Champlain Valley Dental Society (CVDS), the Vermont Dental Hygienists’ Association (VDHA), the Vermont Dental Assistants Association (VDAA) and Vermont Tech’s Dental Hygiene Program. The college will provide equipment, space and students from the dental hygiene program, and the CVDS and VDHA have scheduled 23 volunteer dentists to perform the free dental assistance between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Give kids a smile
Banner Graphic/Michael Logli Dr. John Hennette of Greencastle Pediatric Dentistry works on a child after he received a free cleaning. Hennette, in his eighth year, and Dr. Dennis Knuth, in his first year, performed these cleanings as part of Give Kids a Smile Day, a national event where children from lower-income families receive free dental assistance. The event was rescheduled from its initial February date because of inclement weather. The office received 18 children ages 4 to 16 years old throughout the day.
Recording Academy Offers Free Dental Clinic

Event provides assistance for Birmingham homeless
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Willis — he wouldn’t give his full name — slipped his arms through the shoulder straps of the long, olive-colored duffel bag and hoisted it and the young boy in it behind his back.
Willis, and the small son he carried in the duffel bag, are just two of what are believed to be about 4,000 homeless persons living in the Birmingham metro area. The free dental assistance Willis’ son received Saturday came in one of two mobile dental clinics parked outside Boutwell Auditorium during the fourth annual Project Homeless Connect.
