Unfortunately, a large section of the American population has to struggle with mild to severe dental complications because these people cannot afford even basic dental care.
Most of these people do not have any kind of dental insurance, so a preventable dental health issue will generally turn into an infection which needs immediate and expensive treatment.
Therefore, such free clinics are extremely welcome, because volunteer dentists join their forces to offer free dental help to these people.
This free dental clinic will be held at the Hickory Metro Convention Center.
The doors of the clinic will open as soon as 6:00am, and the services are offered on a first come first served basis.
Some of the dental treatments offered include free dental cleaning, tooth extractions and fillings.
Patients who are at or below 200% of the Federal poverty level are welcome to join the health event and get the treatments that they need.
The clinic is offered by the North Carolina Mission of Mercy organization, more precisely a program of the North Carolina Dental Society.
Volunteers are always welcome to join such programs, and together offer something back to the community.
