The greatest Free Dental Care Day event in the history of the state of Vermont took place this Saturday. Dentists and oral surgeons from all across the region have joined their forces in order to offer free dental services for the residents of Brattleboro.

There have been 40 dentists, assistants and hygienists that helped people from the Vermont region who do not own proper dental insurance.

A resident of Brattleboro, Diana Dee stated that her upper right tooth needed to be extracted and she didn’t have dental insurance. Since the state does not offer any help, such humanitarian events are more than welcome for the people who cannot afford proper dental services. She further states that even up to $2,000 can be saved on medical costs thanks to the help of the volunteers.

At the all day event more than 100 patients have signed up who needed dental care. The location of the one-day clinic has been the Brattleboro Elks Lodge.

Patients have been offered many dental services, among which dental extractions and restorative dental care. People were able to save hundreds of dollars even if they had to remove one tooth and fill in one cavity.

According to another resident, Brad Rockwell, who was present himself at the event, people from the area are generally struggling with hard financial times. Even people who do own regular medical insurance, many of them cannot afford proper dental insurance.

He himself is part time employed, and could not afford to pay for the dental services such as extraction and filling. However, thanks to the good willingness of the volunteers in the area, he received proper treatment for free.

Moreover, one other resident, Jessica Buzby said she was very glad to see that there is so much help being offered by the volunteers. Besides these free dental services, people have been provides with rides, buses, food and fresh water for the day as well.

It was not only patients from Brattleboro who have been served at the event, but also citizens from regions like Bennington, Manchester, Rutland or Wilmington.
