On October 8th there will be held the Muskegon County Children’s Free Dental Fair, where kids will receive free dental services and they will also receive proper education regarding dental care.
The fair will start at 11a.m and it will last until 2pm, at the Lakes Mall in Muskegon.
It is estimated that the dental health professionals and hygienist volunteers present at the fair will provide these free dental services to 150 children. Fluoride varnish paint will also be offered to children who need it, and tooth prints can also be taken.
According to health coordinator Jackie Balcom, parents need to fill out a consent form and they also need to select a time for the checkup their child requires.
When the fair comes to an end, children will receive free toothpaste and toothbrushes and they will also be taught how to respect a proper dental health regimen.
There will also be several activities specifically tailored for children available, such as clowns making balloons, face painting and the Tooth Fairy will also be present to spread the good atmosphere among little children.
Then, several hygiene students from colleges around the area will be present to make demonstrations for kids teaching them how they should brush and floss their teeth regularly.
Also, children’s books will be distributed by Hackly Community Care. For very young children such a fair can mean incredibly much according to Balcom, because they can learn from very early stages of their lives how important proper dental care is.
At the fair there will be featured several displays regarding where to get proper low cost dental care for older children or adults who cannot afford these services.
Balcom further states that the fair is an annual tradition for the Public Health Muskegon County. The fair has had a huge success in the community for the past 25 years.
Such humanitarian events are extremely welcome by both parents and children alike, because the little ones can receive precious information about dental care in a very playful way.
