Special Olympics Arizona Athletes will be offered free dental services on December 9 at the dental college of A.T. Still University located in Mesa, AZ.

The entire faculty and the students as well will join their forces and dedicate their skill and time for a noble cause.

Among the free dental services offered it is important to mention the professional dental cleanings, fillings, and several other dental services.

Abrahim Caroci is a student who has been actively involved in the Special Olympics Special Smiles Programs, so he is the one who came up with the idea of offering a free dental day for the athletes.

There have already been screened well over 100 athletes during October and around 50% of them will come for follow up treatment at the event organized in December.

According to Isaac Sanft who is the Healthy Athletes coordinator for Special Olympics AZ, being able to fill in the gap between screening and dental care for the athletes is extremely important.

Organizers of the event believe that the free dental care day held in December is only a small part of the large puzzle, and they all hope that such events will have a huge impact on the health of people struggling with intellectual disabilities.

Abrahim Caroci wants to raise the awareness and he has already made the first step online.

He launched a new website and he wishes to connect through the social media portals and inform students about the upcoming volunteer opportunities or other Special Smiles events.

This way, the number of people involved in offering something good back to the community will grow, and more and more people will be able to benefit from such humanitarian dental health events. December 9 will be a day for Special Smiles, and hopefully many will leave the event with a bright and white smile on their face.
