Dental Professionals Offer Free Dental Care for Uninsured

On June the 18th, a free dental care day event will be held in Miami-Dade area. The event is called Share the Smiles Dental Health Day.

Dental professionals from Towncare Dental offices, who are basically serving patients in neighborhood dental practices throughout Florida, join their forces and offer free dental services for people who cannot afford them.

The estimated number of patients, who will receive free treatment, is 100. At the event there will be present 6 dentists and a staff of 20 from the area Towncare Dental practices.

Here are the services that will be offered:

• Complete dental examinations
• X-rays
• Professional dental cleanings
• Bondings (for a limited number of patients only)

The free dental day event comes as an initiative from the team of volunteers who want to offer back something to their community. Those who want to participate must pre-register by June 15th; the event will last from 9am until 1:00pm on Saturday, June the 18th.

The location of the event is Towncare Dental offices (inside the Palmetto Hospital Medical building) on 7150 W 20th Ave., Suite 102, Hialeah, FL 33016.

The event comes to support people who would otherwise not have access to proper dental care. Oral health is an integrant part of the overall health, and a poor dental care can lead to several other major health complications, such as:

• Heart disease
• Low-birth weight in infants
• Even stroke

The CDC (Center for Disease Control) reports that adults (18 to 64 years old) have much more dental health issues than children. They cannot afford proper care, so they simply do not go for regular checkups or treatment.

According to yet another report, ever since 1999 there has been noted a significant increase in the number of adults who cannot support the costs for proper dental health care.
