Clark County’s Dental Health Care Improved through Grants

Oral health continuous improvement is crucial to all American states, but especially for the communities in Southeast Washington. In order to aid these improvements in the oral health field, Kaiser Permanente has offered multi –year grants to several community based dental programs.

For example, the Northeast Oral Health is such dental program which offers well over $1.2 million in grants, and this is a three year initiative that according to estimates will help 907,440 adults and children get proper dental care.

FCSW (The Free Clinic of SW Washington) receives a grant of $150,000 with the help of which the clinic will offer specialty dental care services to those in need.

There will be a network of dental providers created and a system which will serve the low-income, underinsured and uninsured adults who live in Clark County.

The current situation sadly requires these people to seek a solution on their own, either through private dental practices or by going to the local hospital emergency rooms whenever needed.

Assistants and doctors working at the Free Clinic believe that if these patients are treated properly, this will have a huge impact on their social life as well.

People will start being more productive at their workplace or in schools, and for some of them it will be much easier to find a job, since they will be treated of their oral infections and tooth decay complications.

There is also another such important grant project offered by Lower Columbia College Head Start, where children under the age of 6 will be mainly offered proper treatment.
