How to Find a Dentist Online

Finding a dentist online is the number one method of finding a dentist today – more than the Yellow Pages, dental mailers, or referrals.

HOT!

Patients are looking for new dentists every day because of a recent move or are unhappy with their current provider.

Finding a new dentist can be a daunting task because you want to be comfortable with the dental professionals that you’ll be meeting every six months or less. Some of the tools available to find a new dentist include performing a Google search for a dentist in your area or using an online dentist directory to locate a dentist. Whatever tool you use to find your next dentist, make sure to look out for the following:

Patient Reviews

The Internet has given patients the ability to review their experience in the dentist’s chair. Patients leave dentist reviews on Google, in dentist directories, and in business directories. Informed patients use these reviews to make a decision as to whether or not the dentist in question is worth contacting.

Dental Office Hours

Not all dentists operate on a 9-5 schedule. In fact, it’s the norm to find dentists that don’t operate Monday or Friday or that have varying schedules on a day-to-day basis. This is great for the dentist, but sometimes not so great for patients who have strict schedules to follow. The good news is that there are a handful of dentist in every city that offer flexible hours – including evenings and weekends if needed.

Does the Dentist Accept Your Dental Health Plan?

There are numerous health plans available and not all dentists accept them all. It is important to discuss your dental health plan with prospective dentists to see if they will accept your plan or not.

Location

Finding a dental professional in your area or one that is close to work is important for matters of convenience. However, don’t let convenience get in the way of finding the right dentist for your specific needs – including office hours, emergency hours, policy on missed appointments, and most importantly a willingness and desire to handle your special needs as a patient.

These are all tips to be used when initially seeking a dentist. But once you get to the dental office, make sure to take note of how friendly the staff is and whether the office and equipment appear to be clean and orderly. If you see anything that you are uncomfortable with, ask questions or consider finding a new dentist.
