You may have heard already one of your friends boosting that his dentist is the best ever. He has a “smooth” hand, and that extraction is done before you know it. But does he use intraoral cameras or special lasers for detecting early cavities?
Such dental tools are the ones which will make a dentist truly modern, and such tools are the ones which will help with diagnosing and detecting any oral health issues in extremely early stages.
This means that your problem requires little and quick treatment, which also means you don’t have to spend half your wage on a filling.
So here are a few of the pieces of equipment which will make your dentist be truly modern:
The Digital X-rays
Long is that era gone when traditional films were made of your teeth. The time is too long and the exposure to radiation might be harmful. A modern dentist nowadays uses the digital X-ray machine, which uses considerably smaller amounts of harmful radiation than their traditional counterparts.
With digital X-rays your dentist can see an instant image of your tooth on a high resolution screen, and all the problems can be spotted easier. The dentist can enhance these images with a click, in order to make them clearer, larger or add contrast.
The laser cavity detection system called DIAGNOdent.
The machine uses a special ray of laser which allows the dentist to “scan” every little inch of your teeth. With this tool, even the smallest cavities, which are not even visible to the naked eye, are perfectly spotted. Since the cavity is found in a very early stage, the dentist needs to perform a minimal treatment, and you need to pay a minimal fee.
The Intraoral cameras
These are tiny cameras which allow the dentist to look at the interior of your moth. The machine will then take digital pictures of your teeth and mouth tissue within your mouth, and then you can see all these images displayed on an LCD screen.
The dentist can magnify these pictures at up to 50 times, so there is no chance for even the smallest suspect lesion to escape…
Computer cosmetic imaging system
This is basically a special software which allows the dentist to create “the perfect smile” for you. You can watch on a computer screen how will your teeth actually look after the procedure is done. If you don’t like it, the dentist will make the adjustments, up until you are satisfied with the shape, size and color of your teeth.
