Medical and dental tourism is a practice that has gained a lot of popularity in the past few years in Malaysia.
Even more so, some Malaysian tourists try to combine their dental tourism plans with their vacationing plans.
Therefore, people tend to choose a destination that is affordable from both points of view.
According to a new report issued by the analysts at the RNCOS (“Malaysia Medical Tourism Outlook 2012″), the number of dental and medical tourists will rise by 17% until 2012 in Malaysia.
Many people choose this country, because they can get here professional and cost effective treatments.
According to the report, the main reasons for which many choose Malaysia for dental tourism purposes are:
- Malaysia has a very good healthcare and dental infrastructure
- The medical and dental professionals are highly skilled
- There are many promotional programs supported by the Government in Malaysia
- There are being offered complex medical treatments and services for extremely competitive prices in Malaysia. A very important example to sustain this statement is that in Malaysia people have to pay as low as $8,000 for a knee replacement intervention, while in the US the cost for the same intervention is $40,000.
There are many very popular and successful hospitals throughout Malaysia, whose percentage of foreign patients exceeds even 30%.
According to the Deputy Minister of Health, Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, Malaysia should have as role model countries like Thailand or India, because only this way will the country be able to generate an important income through top medical and dental tourism.
