As said by PM Viktor Orban, a huge contribution to Hungary’s economy is generated by dental tourism, which makes up to sixty billion forints or EUR 227m annually.

In a conference on dental tourism, held near Budapest, Orban signed an agreement of cooperation with president-CEO, Medical Tourism Office as well as Laszlo Szucs, one of founders of dental tourism development programme.

Essentially Orban stated the role and advantage of dental tourism for getting Hungary back to its feet and let Europe see its ability.

Gyorgy Matolcsy, National Economy Minister and conference’s chief patron added to Orban’s statements saying that dental and spa tourism are given particular attention in Szechenyi plan.

It is also mentioned that the sector’s development will be financed by state with 31 billion forints and this figure my increase in future, if needed.

As per Szucs, cost optimization, market expansion, technical upgrading as well as incentives for dentists in Hungary for preventing their migration to other places is what makes the main part of development tasks.

So, the focus of programme would be on the two-fold increase in dental services in the next 3 years and another three-fold in 5 years for foreigners.

As for the contribution of dental tourism share in Europe is approximately 40 percent by Hungary itself.

In order to maintain the lead here, cooperation from dental profession will be needed and desired so as to stay ahead of Bulgaria, Czech, Turkey and Poland.
