Question
On the right side lower jaw last but one teeth was removed by the doctor due to a broken pin left during root canal treatment. The pain in lower jaw continues even after tooth extraction done last week, such that food cannot be taken. I have to hold the lower jaw and chin of the right side due to the pain while taking food due to unbearable pain.
Doctor says the wound is healing. initially, pulmoclox, flexon, flagyl-200mg all 3 times aday for two days were prescribed. After two days only flexon -200mg is prescribed to be continued, please let me know how to get over the pain in lower jaw and chin. There is minor biting pain in the area around the extracted tooth.
Answer
Are you maintaining any special diet for a few days or going with the normal food that you usually eat? because, after the extraction, the tissue around the tooth socket needs a few days to completely heal and till then you have to go with very soft food, or try to be more on fluids. If that area gets any damage, the time to heal would get prolonged and it would also pain if any food material gets impacted in that area.
I hope there were no sutures given as it was a single tooth, and that's the reason the open socket takes time to heal. You will have to restrict yourself for few days with cold diet and mostly on fluids, and continue with Flexon which would help you get relief from the pain for sometime.
