What is the best way to drain a dental abscess?
Question
I am gargling with warm saltwater now, but is there any more I can do? I am taking antibiotics already… please help!
Answer
You doing the only thing you can.
There are two types of abscess’. Tooth and jaw.
The tooth one occurs when a pieces of food or plaque enter a cavity. It gets the tooth infected and a abcsess is created. If you look at an x-ray that a dentist takes, normally it shows as a small dot normally by a root. This is a pouch containing poison. A dentist won’t touch you until it is fully gone. That is why he/she gave you antibiotics.
A jaw abscess is when a food or plaque enter your jaw through the area around your tooth. As you get older, your gums receed and create gabs around your tooth. The jaw gets infected this way. Like stated before by another member, this takes longer to heal.
Simply do as you are doing. There is nothing much you can do. I know it is hard but whatever you do, don’t plus on the swelling or try to rupture it. If the abscess gets ruptured, the poison can enter your system and make you real sick. It could enter your brain and might even kill you.
My best to you and hope this helps.
Terk.
