Free Dental Clinic Draws a Crowd
Sheboygan, Wis. (WHBL) – The Wisconsin Dental Association and its foundation’s second Mission of Mercy exceeded its patient goal with 2,038 children and adults receiving free dental care. More than $900,000 in free dental care was provided last Friday and Saturday at Sheboygan North High School Patients ranged in age from a 1-year-old boy to a 91-year-old woman. Patients from more than 100 cities and towns across the state and several other states made the trip for the charitable event. The first four patients waited in line for almost 20 hours after setting up a tent last Thursday morning.

New clinic to help uninsured opens in Midvale
MIDVALE — Dr. Mansoor Emam watched a longtime dream bloom Tuesday, as he opened another medical clinic to treat the ever-growing population of Utah’s working poor who can’t get treatment without health insurance.
Emam’s volunteer medical and clerical staff will focus care on the uninsured and underserved who are not homeless. Clinic hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. The clinic will be open for pediatric care one day and dental/oral surgeon services on the other, he said.

New Champaign dental clinic for low-income adults could open in late spring 2011
CHAMPAIGN – A new dental clinic to serve low-income Champaign County adults and children could open by late next spring. Lyn Jones, CEO of United Way of Champaign County, says a community group planning the clinic has raised about $300,000 to help pay for it, and a tentative location in Champaign has been identified.
Some 200 local children are on waiting lists for free dental care provided through SmileHealthy, a dental program for needy Champaign County children and their families, and about 400 others are on a waiting list for SmileHealthy’s mobile dental clinic that comes to Frances Nelson Health Center twice a month, according to SmileHealthy’s Executive Director Nancy Greenwalt.

Event offers free health, dental care
For many Utahns without insurance, it’s hard to believe a medical professional will see them for free. But for two days a year, they can get the help they desperately need at the annual CARE Fair on July 9 and 10. And no one will give them a bill.
Free childcare will be available while parents attend the fair. Free car seats and bike helmets are offered to people who receive certain services. Officials will be available to demonstrate car seat installation and helmet fittings.

The Wisconsin Dental Association and WDA Foundation’s second Mission of Mercy exceeded its patient goal with 2,038 children and adults receiving more than $900,000 in free dental care at Sheboygan North High School June 25–26.
Patients ranged in age from a 1-year-old boy to a 91-year-old woman. They traveled from more than 100 cities and towns across Wisconsin and several other states to obtain care at this large-scale, charitable event. The first four patients waited in line for almost 20 hours after setting up a tent Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
Clinic doors opened at 6 a.m. with care concluding by 5:30 p.m. both days. A total of 7,572 dental procedures were performed, including 1,540 fillings, 1,630 teeth extracted, 904 cleanings and 15 root canals. Several dental labs worked with volunteer technicians to create 96 partial dentures.
A team of 953 volunteers from 158 Wisconsin communities and 10 states provided the free care. Among the volunteers were 180 dentists, 120 dental hygienists, 160 Marquette University School of Dentistry students and numerous dental assistants and lay people.

Mission of Mercy provides free dental services to needy
Raider Nation was transformed into dental central by 953 volunteers, including 180 dentists, scores of dental hygienists and assistants, nurses, lab technicians, dental students, translators and escorts.
They were there to serve those who were uninsured or underinsured or unable to receive quality dental care. There were no appointments. It was first come, first served. By the time the event concludes Saturday, 2,000 patients are expected to have received an estimated $1 million in free dental care.

Free dental screening Wednesday
There will be a free dental screening for children ages 6 to 18 from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 30, at the Boys & Girls Club of Albany. Parental consent forms must be filled out prior to Wednesday to guarantee screening. The screening is based on first come, first served. Free dental treatment for younger children starts this week
Beginning Thursday, July 1, every child up through age seven will be entitled to free or subsidized dental treatment from the health fund that covers his general health care.
If and when the Knesset passes a law allowing the establishment of a fifth health fund solely for providing dental care through private (and perhaps other) dentists, there will be additional choice.
