Free screenings give parents something to smile about
KALISPELL- Going to the dentist isn’t always the most fun thing for children, and it can be an expensive trip for parents as well. That’s why the Dennis Washington foundation provided grants to Community Health Centers across the state.
Wendy Doely with the Flathead County Health Department says that the event is a free checkup, but the really good news is that if they find anything that needs more work, there are discounts available to parents too.

Domestic violence victims get free care at new dental clinic
FORT LAUDERDALE — Abused women are getting their smiles back at an unusual clinic, which soon may be a national model for teaching dentists to repair the teeth of domestic-violence victims.
Over the past two months, the free clinic, carved out of offices at Women In Distress of Broward County, has served more than 100 women who have received fillings, extractions, dentures and deep cleanings. Most lack insurance and have neglected their teeth due to poverty, a negative self-image or a refusal by their partners to allow them to visit doctors.

Johnsonville students to get free dental care
JOHNSONVILLE, S.C. — The students at Florence County District Three Schools can eat all the candy Santa leaves them this year without any thoughts of losing their teeth.
Johnsonville dentists, Dr. Charles Maxwell and Dr. Carol Baker, offer free dental care to these young people. They provide dental care for students in Johnsonville Elementary, Middle and High Schools at their office on East Broadway Street.
Because of the problem some parents have in getting their children to dental appointments, especially two parent working families, students are seen during school hours and are transported to and from the dental office by either school personnel or by a member of Dr. Maxwell and Dr. Baker’s staff. A minimum of school time is lost because of the close proximity of the school campuses.
