National Health Month Campaign Preparations Have Started

The National Health Month 2012 campaign preparations have been officially started today.

The new website has been launched, and there will be 10,000 free “smileys” given away.

The smileys will become the official symbol of next year’s campaign, and the first 2,000 organizations that register will get each five such free smileys.

This campaign is one that enjoys the greatest success among oral health campaigns in the UK, and among the main sponsors it is important to mention: Wrigley, Listerine, Oral-B and Macleans.

Then, there are several brands that support the campaign and will help with the promotion of the so important oral health care messages for everybody.

Among the most important messages that will help raise the awareness upon the importance of oral health, there can be mentioned the rule of brushing the teeth at least twice a day using toothpaste that contains protective fluoride.

Then, trying to reduce the sugar intake is extremely important, because sugar is one of the greatest enemies that bring about cavities and spotted teeth. Last but not least, a message that cannot be stressed enough: the importance of going for those regular checkups with your dentist, so that major oral health complications are prevented efficiently.

According to Simon Howell, who is the director of Campaigns & Fundraising at the British Dental Health Foundation, the team has spent a lot of time talking to experts in the dental field and to their sponsors.

They wanted to get a professional opinion on how they can make the event an even greater success than the previous one. Thus, the campaign has been re-branded and all the details have been officially brought to light much earlier. This way, everyone can prepare in time for the great event next year.

New organizations and supporters could take on the opportunity earlier, and they also have the time to see which the best strategy is that their company should implement in order to spread the oral health messages effectively.

The oral health messages are meant to raise awareness, and they talk about a serious problem in fact. Even so, the campaign organizers have chosen a funny and cute symbol for their event, which is a smiley.

Healthy teeth make one happy and self confident, and this is the most important. Also, the general public can be much easier engaged into the campaign, and the awareness can be reached quicker and easier if people will recognize the smiley face and they will associate it with the importance of good oral health.

Then eligible organizations will be able to receive their “smiley” symbols on a first come first served basis. Organizers of the campaign firmly believe this year’s campaign will attract a much larger number of sponsors and organizations who want to get involved and spread the “healthy” messages among people.

In order to receive the free smileys, organizations should register at the smile month.org website. The campaign will take place for one month from May 20 until June 20; since preparations have started early there is a lot of time for those interested to get in touch with the organization.
