The “Mission of Mercy” is a humanitarian organization which provides free dental services for people who do not have dental insurance.

For their achievements in this field, they will be honored at the “Celebration of Heroes” event which will be held on March the 27th at the Sheraton Hotel on Hershberger Road.

The celebration breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m.

At the Roanoke Civic, last year people started coming from the early morning hours in order to receive free dental care.

Dr. David Black, one of the main organizers and volunteers at the event states that especially in these difficult economic times, the need for free dental services, is immense.

Even more so, the doctor admits that they could work all day long and still not satisfy the medical needs of the patients who require these services.

Volunteer doctors from all across the country join hands in order to make a difference in the lives of people who cannot afford dental care services.

Dr. Black further states that the demand is so high that even more volunteers would be needed, and even more such free clinics would have to function in different parts of the country.

Mission of Mercy services are provided through mobile units which are fully equipped with high tech medical instruments and devices.

A portable treatment chair, an ultra modern x-ray machine, compressors, a high speed autoclave and the special instruments and tools are what make up the mobile care unit.
