‘Volunteers in Medicine’ Free Dental Clinic Grand Opening in Luzerne County

From now on, Luzerne County residents can receive free dental care.

The clinic is run by “Volunteers in Medicine”, and the location of the clinic is 190 Pennsylvania Ave Wilkes-Barre. It had its grand opening one week ago.

According to the Department of Health, Luzerne County is an area with a very high demand for dental services.

There are 10 volunteer dentists who will work at the clinic and offer their services for people who need it.

There are many residents who simply cannot afford to pay for dental services, and the free clinic will proudly serve them.

It will operate every weekday from 9a.m to 5p.m, and in exceptional cases it will be open in the evening hours too.

People who can benefit of these free dental services are:

• Free dental care for those who are employed but low-income
• Free dental services for those who receive unemployment benefits
• Free dental care for those who cannot afford dental insurance

The “Volunteers in Medicine” national clinic network currently comprises 84 clinics, with additional sites scheduled to open every year.

Besides offering free dental services, VIM clinic network also offers:

• Chiropractic & physiotherapy services
• Podiatry
• Counseling
• Primary health care & nutritional education

Volunteering, especially in the field medicine is a huge humanitarian activity.
