Low-Income and Uninsured to Receive Free Dental Services

Valley dentists give a mom a brand new smile — for FREE. Free dental services.

For the last two years, Dr. Cufone and Periodontist Ralph Wilson from Pinnacle Dentistry in Scottsdale helped restore Jones’ smile and her confidence. The doctors along with a team of dental experts including Precision Dental Prosthetics, Dental Implements, Astra Tech and 3i Dental Implants all donated their time and resources free of charge.

89-year-old keeps dental records in order at CVIM

In a quiet, back record room at Centre Volunteers in Medicine, a woman with curly white hair adds a special plastic X-ray slot to each dental record.

Val Martin, 89, uses an office complain about it.

She’s volunteered nearly 400 hours of her time since 2005 to keep up the records on the dental side of the State College health clinic that offers free dental services to low-income, uninsured residents of Centre County. Before 2005, she had been volunteering at a local Veterans Affairs clinic until it stopped using paper records.

Free dental clinic coming in August

Palo Pinto County is getting its first area free dental clinic in August, thanks in part to a request by a local dentist, but there is still a lot of work to make it happen.

The Aug. 15 event at the Mineral Wells Senior Center will focus on bringing free emergency dental help to 100 low-income residents who need cleanings, fillings and teeth pulled.

Currently funded by a grant from the Meadows Foundation, the Smiles on Wheels project brings free emergency dental service to rural communities who have the need and infrastructure to support the program, according to Smiles director Traci Whitney.
