PGA Tour Brings Free Dental Clinic For Kids
It’s not just the golfers who are in town for the John Deere Classic this week. A non-profit dentistry group called Christina’s Smile, follows the PGA tour and has set-up shop in Rock Island this week, giving free dental services to low income kids or those without health insurance.
The patients are between the ages of 6 and 16. Local dentists and staff volunteer to do the work inside the mobile clinic, which is a trailer located at the south side of the Rock Island-Milan School District Administration Building. Appointments are arranged through the school nurse.

Free dental exams offered
These free cleanings and exams are for kids who have never been to the dental clinic at the Health Department and have no private health insurance. Medicaid is accepted. First and second visits are free. The third visit fee is a sliding scale based on income. A parent or guardian must accompany the child. No appointments are necessary.

Free Dental Clinic provides a great service
The Lewis Armstrong Free Dental Clinic is an outreach initiative of Healthy Culpeper and is named in honor of long-time Culpeper dentist Dr. Lewis Armstrong. This initiative, supported by a skeleton staff, provided free dental services to 107 residents of Culpeper County between Jan. 1 and June 30 this year. Based on the average fee charged by dentists in Culpeper, this translates to $19,482 of care and does not include donated volunteer hygiene services provided by Mrs. Diana Corbin.

200 children from poor families to receive free dental braces
Taipei, July 8 (CNA) Two hundred young people, ages 11-18, from poor families in Taiwan will be given free dental services, orthodontic treatment under a NT$24-million project launched jointly by two local organizations, the Taiwan Association of Orthodontists announced Wednesday.
The Taiwan Fund for Children and Families will select the 200 recipients, while dentists from the orthodontist association will perform the procedures, the association’s director Hung Ching-hiu said at a press conference.
