Innovative Approach in Dental Education: the Hands-On Dental Health Learning Lab for Children

Dr Susan Maples is a reputed dentist from Holt, Michigan.

Quite recently the staff at her dental office has created a science hands-on learning lab for children.

Teach and tell learning seems to be quite outdated and not that effective when it comes to making children understand the importance of proper dental health.

This is why the team has decided to take a different, radical approach and they have set up this science lab.

When children are given the chance to get directly involved into matters relating to their dental health, they are extremely eager to find out and learn new things.

One extremely important aim the team wants to achieve is to change how parents and children actually feel about the regular dental visits.

Dr. Maples works in partnership with the NCOHF – National Children’s Oral Health Foundation:

America’s Toothfairy, in order to ensure that children and their families have got proper access to all the important resources that will help them take charge of their own nutrition and health status.

The video shows how much children actually enjoy these hands-on experiments in the science lab, and hopefully this will help thousands of families understand that prevention in the dental health field is of paramount importance.
